A caring senior consultant psychiatrist in South West London, Dr Burns has a wealth of expertise in assessing and treating adults with a wide variety of psychological and mental health concerns.
Seeking psychiatric treatment can be a daunting process, but Dr Burns is there to make the experience simple and convenient, with both in-person (Priory Hospital Roehampton) and online appointments available.
Dr Burns is dedicated to helping facilitate timely recovery for patients, involving families and carers in the process.
Dr Burns has been a doctor since 1999. He has specialised in Psychiatry since 2003 and has been a Consultant since 2011.
Prior to specialising in psychiatry, he worked in a variety of medical settings, including a number of A&E departments, and understands the importance of considering physical health problems alongside people’s mental health.
Dr Burns has been a Consultant at the Priory Hospital Roehampton since 2017 and Clinical Director for Private Services from 2019 to 2023. Previously he spent six years as a Consultant Psychiatrist in South West London & St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust before commencing work in the private sector.
Alongside his clinical work, since 2008 Dr Burns has been a lecturer on psychiatric conditions as part of an accredited course for counselling and psychotherapy trainees. He was part of the first cohort selected to be a “Darzi Fellow” (a high profile programme designed to develop clinical managers), and has also held a number of senior medical management roles in both the NHS and private sectors. These leadership roles have instilled a desire to ensure he is involved in continually improving services so that everyone may benefit.

In-person appointments are available Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at Priory Hospital Roehampton, and remotely (via Zoom or over the phone) every week day.
Clinic times generally run 08:00 - 17:00 although there is some flexibility around timings and Face to Face versus remote options. Terms & Conditions, including fees will be provided following enquiry.
